Yammie Nam On Her Life: "Now My Only Wish is to Die Peacefully"

Yammie Nam was once a beautiful actress, who had a really promising career. Sadly, her life didn't play out as she planned. After her really notable performance on Adam Cheng's 1992 movie, The Greed of Man, the actress fell into depression which resulted in mental instability. Her distress stemmed from a series of unfortunate events, including witnessing two of her boyfriends commit suicide.

With her mental illness, Yammie has experienced several difficulties in securing a job and is now usually seen wandering aimlessly on the streets. Back in 2006, she filed for bankruptcy, which caused her to refuse to seek medical treatment despite suffering from a uterine tumor.

And in 2013, the 51-year old actress bravely revealed that she was sexually assaulted by two men from the Hong Kong industry 30 years ago. Although one of her assailants has already died, Yammie is said to be unable to move on from the horrifying experience and has had several suicide attempts.

Yammie was one of the most popular, successful and beautiful actresses in the '80s and thus had a lot of pursuers. However, Yammie was reported to be extremely moody and avoided socializing, even though an insider revealed that the actress was desperate to settle down and have children.

In 1985, however, Yammie met Mr. Deng, who became her first love. However, their 1-year relationship tragically ended when Mr. Deng ended his life. Suffering from a broken heart, she found comfort with her good friend, Paul Chung. Having the same background and working in the entertainment industry, they kept their relationship a secret. However, what many did not know was Paul had a problem with gambling and had incurred a lot of debts. Due to his inability to earn enough money to repay them, he committed suicide in 1989 by jumping off a tall building.

Yammie found love once again in 1996 with billionaire Cheng Yun Tong's son, Peter Cheng, who generously gave her a luxury house worth $5.5 million HKD. However, the two parted ways in 1998 after an intense argument while they were on vacation in Nepal.

Then in 2001, she dated a man from her church. After two years of dating, they planned to tie the knot and immigrate to Canada. A close friend of Yammie's revealed that with the actress' career slowing down, she was extremely excited to finally settle down and start a family. Sadly, the man ended things between them in 2003 due to Yammie's uncontrollable mood swings.

In a previous interview, Yammie said that she still wants to date, however, she explained that love has become a luxury for her. "Now my only wish is to die peacefully and not reincarnate into a human in my next life," because humans, she said, greatly suffer in body and in spirit.
