Just days after she revealed she is battling breast cancer, celebrity chef Sandra Lee announced her double mastectomy surgery has been pushed back until next week due to an upper respiratory infection she has contracted.

Sandra Lee took to her Twitter account to share the news with her fans that her doctors said it would be best to delay the double mastectomy. This would give her enough time to fully recover from the infection.

The 48-year old celebrity chef posted the same message on Facebook, in which she shared that even though she's been taking antibiotics to speed up her recovery so she can proceed with the double mastectomy surgery, her doctors ultimately decided to postpone it until early next week.

"I thank you all so so so much for your kind messages and loving thoughts," Sandra Lee added.

The long-time girlfriend of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed she has cancer last Tuesday, during an emotional interview with Robin Roberts, a breast cancer survivor on the morning show, "Good Morning America."

Sandra Lee recalled that she had just finished shooting for People magazine's Most Beautiful issue," when her doctor suddenly called to inform her of the life-changing news.

She said that she walked off the set and about 20 minutes later, "my doctor called and told me I had breast cancer." Realizing how quickly life turns, Sandra Lee said that she did not cry, as she was extremely stunned.

No matter how badly cancer beats the body up or how badly it beats someone up emotionally, Sandra Lee was adamant about not letting it "rob her from one day of happiness."

Lee, who shot to fame thanks to her show "Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee," said that Cuomo was initially shocked when she rang him up to inform him of her diagnosis, but remarked that he has been nothing but supportive.

The Governor will even take some personal time off just to take care of Sandra Lee as she recovers from the procedure.
