Abducted New Hampshire Teen Returns Home After Nine Months, Raising More Questions on Her Case

A teenaged girl who went missing for nine months after mysteriously vanishing in October last year is suddenly reunited with her family, raising more questions about what exactly happened to her.

New Hampshire teen Abigail Hernandez has returned home Sunday night after nine months of unexplained absence wearing the same clothes she was in when she disappeared on October 9.

However, reports indicate that she was not the same as she was last seen leaving Kennett High School in North Conway, New Hampshire as she currently is very thin and is struggling to eat.

Most commonly known as 'Abby,' the teenage girl was weak and unable to eat solid foods when she arrived home. According to family friends, she seemed traumatized to what happened to her.

In an attempt to help fast track the search, her mother and sister have initiated an online campaign called "Bring Abby Home" where a reward of US$60,000 was offered to anyone with viable information on her whereabouts.

In December, Abby sent her mother a letter which became the "critical" lead in the case although authorities gave no further information on the contents of the letter.

When Abby arrived home, police revealed the rough sketch of the man who was reportedly seen driving a navy blue pickup truck with her, based on her description.

No confirmation on the identity of the man has been released yet though reports indicate that Abigail Hernandez was abducted by a slightly overweight man taller than five feet four inches. She also told investigators that the man has dark skin, brown eyes, and black facial hair.

"While the investigation remains ongoing, law enforcement authorities are still attempting to ascertain and confirm information," a statement from the New Hampshire Office of the Attorney General said.

Authorities said they are currently processing data on Abby's abduction and are looking for answers as to where she was taken, who took her, and how she was able to return.

According to advocates, it is very unusual for a child to return home after being missing for a long time.

"Usually within a week or two, they're gone," manager of Maine's Keeping Kids Safe Mike O'Neal stated.
