Mischa Barton is finally coming back to the small screen.

People magazine reported on Monday that the 29-year old actress, who has had a pretty rough time getting her career back on track, has landed a guest-starring role in the new drama series "Recovery Road."

The new ABC Family show is based on American author Blake Nelson's novel of the same name, which focuses on the lives of teenagers who are being treated at a rehab for addiction.

Barton's character, Olivia, is a patient at another facility who becomes friends with Vern, portrayed by Daniel Franzese, best known for playing Damian in Mean Girls.

The O.C. actress was previously arrested for driving under the influence back in 2007 and was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold in 2009, which lasted for two weeks.

Talking to the Daily Mail at the time, Barton said, "If they feel you're depressed or a danger to yourself, they can hold you on a 5150." The "American Beach House" actress, who has a real fear of needles, revealed that she fought the nurses who attempted to inject her with medicine, which led to her 5150.

However, Barton told People magazine in 2013 that she was under a lot of pressure and was experiencing a "full-on breakdown."

Barton, who is London-born but raised in New York, joins several British actors in the upcoming series. Skins alums Sebastian de Souza and Jessica Sula are also featured in the series, alongside David Witts, who played Joey Branning in the British soap opera, EastEnders.

Barton shot to fame in 2003, playing Marissa Cooper on The O.C., but was reportedly forced to quit at the end of season 3. Since then, her television roles has been entirely limited to guest appearances on Law & Order and Ashton Kutcher's "The Beautiful Life: TBL."

She also went on to act in a few movies, which unfortunately, did not turn out to be successful.

"Recovery Road" will be Barton's big television comeback since "The O.C." The premiere date for the series is yet to be announced.
