Nadal had a rough run at the European clay-court final, he had lost to Fabio Fogini, Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray and Djokovic.

He said that he believes that his performance was not really terrible but compared with his performance the past years it looks bad.

Nadal explained that it is normal for comparisons especially if a player had a lot of great runs in the past.

According to Five Thirty Eight, Nadal was terrible on the clay this year. He won 77 percent of his matches which could be considered his lowest tour percentage.

They explained that he had been down 29 percent in the clay which favors his sliding defense and forehand topspins.

Washington Post explained that this downfall was due to a wrist injury and appendectomy he had last year.

They said that Nadal currently placed sixth in the tournament and he could face Djokovic in the quarterfinals.

They added that an insidious psychological slide could occur if an injured player like Nadal departs without a title.

Despite this, other professional tennis players like Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer defended the star athlete.

Sharapova explained that it would be disrespectful to doubt who Nadal has won nine tournaments over the past ten years.

She explained that he is an incredible champion and is a remarkable athlete who just keeps proving everyone wrong.

Ferrer, who is one of Nadal's greatest rival, believes that he is still the favorite to win in Paris. He still believes that Spanish tennis player is still difficult to beat.

He said that except for Robin Soldering who defeated Nadal in 2009 he doesn't know who can beat him.
