Jessica Jung may have lost her Girls' Generation fan base, but she refuses to become part of the crowd, mainly because of her fashion brand BLANC & ECLARE. She is now donning the identity of a fashionista, completely shunning her girl idol life. In a recent interview given to Marie Claire, Jung compared her present life with her time with Girls' Generation.

Jung told the magazine that everything is different compared to when she was with Girls' Generation. There is more freedom now, as the promotional activities involve her only, she said. This means she does not have to wait for others, and this gives her more free time to use.

She talked to the magazine during a photo shoot. "If I were still a member of Girls' Generation, I would not be able to do a photo shoot like today," Korea Boo quoted her saying to the magazine. "Idol groups must always be happy, nice, clear, and bright. But I am already 27, I cannot remain as a happy girl forever."

She is very much aware that she will be criticized for showing more skin in her new photo-shoot, but Jung said that she is no longer a girl, and through the photo-shoot, she wanted to show the "mature side of Jessica."

"Since debuting in 19 and promoting until 25, I felt trapped and stifling due to various restrictions," she said. Jung seems to be enjoying her life outside the Korean music industry, as she is now free to make her own decisions.

Jung kicked up a storm in September 2014 when she took to Chinese social media platform Weibo to announce that she is being forced out of Girls' Generation and that the other eight members have told her that she is no longer part of the group. She later told the media that she was asked to leave mainly because of her fashion line, which was then called just BLANC. Jung was reportedly asked to choose between Girls' Generation and BLANC.
