Asian-American point guard Jeremy Lin is set to test the free-agency waters this offseason, hoping to a find a team where he can finally fit in following not so impressive stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets.

While there's no doubt offers will come at his door step (the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers and the Denver Nuggets are some of possible suitors this offseason per Bleacher Report), Lin might have to abandon his goal of becoming a starter again and accept a backup role if he ever wants to stay in the league.

From earning a career-high $15 million last season, his next contract is projected to be around $5MM to $6MM per year (per Christian Post), the same paycheck mid-level role players receive over their careers.

If getting loads of cash would be Lin's primary goal this summer, staying in the NBA isn't his best option. The money isn't in the United States for Lin. It's in China at the Chinese Basketball Association, where every basketball teams are eager to throw in a lucrative offer for Lin in hope of exploiting his popularity, and of course, getting more money in return.

From the Beijing Ducks to Shanghai Sharks to the up-and-coming power Sichuan Jinqiang Blue Whales (New York Post), all of these ball clubs have the resources to lure in Lin. In fact, it won't be a shocker if Lin signs the biggest paycheck in CBA history, should he decides to play in China's play-for-pay league.

On the other hand, reality tells that Lin would never abandon his NBA dream for the spoil of CBA. The former Harvard standout has faced a number of adversities throughout his life, and the prospect of being relegated to a backup role won't change his conviction of becoming the best player he can be in the best basketball league on the planet.
