If Jennifer Lawrence is the face of "The Hunger Games" films, Lorde is becoming the franchise's voice.

Lionsgate just announced that Lorde will have a big role in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 1".

The singer-songwriter who hails from New Zealand will be writing the first single of the movie and will be solely curating the film's entire soundtrack.

Being curator means that the Grammy winner will be in charge of picking each song for the soundtrack. Although some of the songs in the soundtrack won't be heard in the movie, Lorde's goal is to keep the tone of the album consistent with the feel of the movie.

Director Francis Lawrence shared, "I sat down with Lorde on the set of 'Mockingjay' this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film."

She took to Twitter to post a cryptic announcement on Wednesday night. She wrote, "something exciting is about to happen". That post certainly proved to be true.

Promising that "the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people," Lorde shared that asking to curate the film's soundtrack was a challenge, but she was certainly up for it. The unique experience was something she enjoyed, especially since the actors and the story itself were inspirations to the musicians who were involved in creating the film's scoring.

Lorde also covered "Everybody Wants To Rule the World" by Tears for Fears for the soundtrack of the second installment of "The Hunger Games" franchise, "Catching Fire". The said soundtrack also featured the music of artists such as Christina Aguilera and Coldplay. The lead single of the soundtrack was Coldplay's "Atlas".

Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars were responsible for the first installment's lead single, "Safe and Sound".

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 1" will open in theaters on November 21.
