As the NFL's official training camp begins this August, reports have been swirling that Philadelphia Eagles newly-recruited quarterback Tim Tebow is "quickly climbing the depth chart and could steal a spot on the final roster," as per the Inquisitr.

It seems like Tebow's knack for Chip Kelly's offense is getting more and more evident as training deepens, making him a solid candidate for the Eagles' third quarterback spot over Matt Barkley. Rumors have also abound that he may well be the primary backup of Mark Sanchez if ever starting signal caller Sam Bradford would still not be fully healed when regular season starts in September.

Coach Kelly's recent comments about the 27-year-old former Florida standout have been complimentary and positive.

"I have seen an improvement from Tim since the day we got him in terms of his knowledge of what we're doing, understanding where everybody is," Kelly told the Delaware County Times' Bob Grotz. He added that they trained Tebow differently from what his former NFL teams had done in terms of adding knowledge of the game and familiarizing him with the Eagles' sets.

"I think each week you've seen an incremental bump in him, so we're excited to see where that takes him and it'll be a good competition as we get into August," said Kelly, referring to the opening of the team's official training camp.

Even with the reports that Tebow is almost sure of a roster spot in Philadelphia, his critics, or "haters", continue to pan his throwing mechanics and overall skills as a playmaker. Some have even badmouthed not only his game but his personal life as well. It is truly bizarre that an average NFL player competing for a third QB spot would attract a lot of flak and attention from fans and the media.

Breitbart's Daniel Leberfeld conjectured that it could be Tebow's religious beliefs that are making him the target of public disapprovals.

Leberfield even mentioned that former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer said that "he would like Tebow more if he would 'shut up' about his faith in Jesus Christ." The article went on to claim that Tebow's haters do not hate his "throwing motion or his completion percentage" but his open admission of faith and his "goody-two shoes image."

Whether Leberfield was right or not, the fans should look objectively at Tebow's progress when talking about his chance for a spot in Kelly's crew.
