The Apple Smartwatch launch was hyped raising hopes of the customers; however, looks like the product is now facing a lack of activity as app developers simply sit back and watching if the smartwatch is really worth working on.

According to New York Times, in the months that preceded the launch of the famed Apple smartwatch, the makers tried hard to pursue firms like Facebook to associate themselves with the gadget and develop exclusive apps for it. However, Facebook did not jump at the opportunity instantly. Instead, the firm said that it would take its time to weigh the pros and cons before taking any such decision.

Currently, Facebook is still analyzing the effectiveness of this platform as there is no app for it just yet since it was launched. On its part, Adam Mosseri, who oversees Facebook's news feed, said that they were not sure whether or not the users will be able to get a good experience to access the Facebook features on such a small screen.

This is not the only reason for Apple to start worrying as even other popular app makers like Snapchat and Google are not willing to get on-board with Apple. This clearly shows the skepticism that haunts the technology community with regard to the wearable technology. The reason why this setback could be looked upon as a cause of concern is that the smartwatch is Apple's first offering, after the iPad in 2010. It is the support of these apps that often prompts the end user to invest in tech savvy gadgets.

Apple declined to comment on the sales performance of the watch; however, market sentiment indicates that in spite of the absence of the prominent apps, owners of the Apple smartwatch are loving it.

A report on Dallas news that quotes analyst estimates says that Apple has so far sold three million pieces of the smartwatch. Once the figure surpasses five million, it is expected to set records by exceeding the numbers registered by iPhones and iPads in the first quarter of sales since their launch.
