‘San Andreas’ Star Dwayne Johnson Stars in Arcade-Game Themed ‘Rampage’

The "Rock" Dwayne Johnson is set to star in an arcade-game-turned-movie "Rampage" and he is working with his team from "San Andreas."

"Rampage" is originally a 1980s Midway Nintendo arcade video game where players control gigantic monsters--a gorilla, a dinosaur-like lizard, and a werewolf, as they destroy an entire city. Military forces try to stop the monsters.

The movie adaptation of the arcade game will be produced by a few of those behind Johnson's hit movie "San Andres"-- Beau Flynn under his FlynnPictureCo. and New Line, Deadline Hollywood reported.  

Ryan Engle, on the other hand, will write the script whose plot is still underway but will most like have Johnson's character stopping the monsters, the report added.

Coming from his blockbuster earthquake movie, Johnson has been busy working on the action comedy "Central Intelligence" opposite actor Kevin Hart. He is also set to begin filming the latest installment to the "Fast & Furious" franchise after which production may likely start, Variety reported.

The Hollywood star's winter schedule may also be filled if HBO produces a second season of his hit TV series "Ballers" which has been showing increasing ratings, the news site added.

Over the past weekend, the earthquake disaster movie "San Andreas" got past the $400 million box office milestone.

Johnson took to Twitter confirming plans for the movie, "To make the big screen version of the arcade classic Rampage, we "put the band back together". Here we go.. It's on," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Sun reported, Johnson may star in the big screen adaptation of the TV series "Baywatch" which featured the lives of a group of lifeguards.

Director Seth Gordon is currently negotiating with Paramount Pictures to direct the movie with Johnson in it. The plot of which may take on a more comedic path, the news site added.
