Tao, who made his solo debut on July 23, seems to have inspired his former mate from EXO-M. The latest buzz is that after Tao, Luhan is also planning to launch his solo album.

"Started recording for a new album. I'm a little nervous, a little uneasy, and a little tired, but more than that, I'm excited. I'll see you on stage!" Soompi quoted him as saying on his Weibo account. He also posted a photo of himself with this message. He is seen standing in his recording studio, and according to Soompi, the photo seems to have been taking during one of his recording sessions.

Luhan earlier teamed up with David Tao, the award-winning Taiwanese composer, to produce a song, "Please Come To The Great Wall To Ski," as part of China's bid promotion for 2022 Winter Olympics. He, however, has been more busy acting in movies than singing.

The singer-actor, 25, has bagged a number of acting projects and solo endorsement deals since his departure from EXO. He quit EXO last year in October, and soon after that he filed a lawsuit against S.M. Entertainment, seeking termination of his contract. He was following the example set by his former EXO-M leader, Kris, who was the first Chinese member of the Chinese-Korean idol group to quit the group and file a lawsuit against the management agency, with the aim to get out of the contract.

EXO-M, the mandarin subgroup of EXO, originally consisted of four Chinese members and two Koreans. Now the group only consists of one Chinese member, Lay, and he continues to actively participate with EXO.

Meanwhile, Luhan's decision to snap ties with EXO has not dented his popularity or diminished his demand to endorse products. He recently took the 37th spot in Forbes China's annual list of richest celebrities, with an earning of USD $4,587,377 that he received from his endorsement and movie deals in China.

One of the movies that Luhan has signed on is "The Great Wall," an American-Chinese science fiction action film. The singer-actor is sharing screen space with Matt Damon and Andy Lau in the movie, which is expected to release on Nov. 23, 2016, internationally.
