Fadell also told the media that he had already been trying Ive's latest products and said that he appreciated the hardware components placed in the design. He also praised Apple for trying out different combinations on different platforms. While rumors indicate that Fadell was handed over the Glass Project by Google Founder Larry Page as the latter wanted to see some concrete development on the Glass computer. However, Fadell clarified that he offered to take it up willingly, citing a lot of potential in the domain, Engadget reported.

Soon after taking over, Fadell announced a shift in strategy, in which all the existing versions of the Google Glass explorer edition were pulled off the market. He also announced that all the future test versions would be kept in-house strictly.
