Channing Tatum finalizes his role in the upcoming "X-Men" movie as "Gambit."

After there were a few speculations that Channing Tatum's participation as Gambit in the upcoming "X-Men" spin-off was in danger, it looks like the actor will take on the role after all.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Channing Tatum has closed the deal to play as Gambit in the upcoming "X-Men" movie by 20th Century Fox. The report comes after Channing was rumored to exit the movie project last week. Apparently, the "Magic Mike" actor and Fox were not able to come into terms.

Daily Mail reported that the movie production and the actor were not able to agree regarding compensation and Channing's involvement on future "X-Men" and "Gambit" films. Tatum has long been speculated to take on the role and even made a surprise appearance at the "X-Men" panel during ComicCon that happened last month. Channing is said to be looking forward to play the comic book character.

In an article by Screen Rant, despite the challenges in being able to cast the perfect "Gambit," the character is finally in a good place. Director Rupert Wyatt who was responsible for "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was also signed on. According to news, Fox is willing to spend a budget of $150 million for this film.

In the comic book, "Gambit" who has the real name of Remy LeBeau is both a thief and a womanizer. He has the power to charge objects with energy which causes them to explode. His signature move is throwing playing cards to an enemy which is done with accuracy.

Channing previously expressed that he wants to play the character of Gambit in the movie citing that they both have similarities.

"I would like to play Gambit. Gambit's my favorite. I'm from New Orleans, around that area. My dad's from New Orleans, and I like to do a Cajun accent. I could do it for real," Channing said. "No knock on Taylor Kitsch, though, 'cause I actually like his Gambit,' he added. But I've always lived around Cajun people. Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He's a thief. He kind of rode the line."
