The highly-anticipated potential matchup between current WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios is reportedly "dead," according to Rios' manager Cameron Dunkin, as both fighters said to have demanded a compensation that is over the budget of broadcasting company HBO.

Both fighters are under Bob Arum's Top Rank promotional outfit, but they have separate managers that represent them in their dealings. Top Rank president Todd duBoef reportedly contacted Dunkin that he and Bradley's camp's asking price are too high for the match to go on.

Dunkin said, though, that his fighter is more than willing to take a pay cut just to make the fight happen, but apparently the more popular Bradley is not.

"We knew at the end of the day we were going to have to fight for less than what we wanted to make the fight happen," Dunkin said via Boxing Scene. The manager added that he negotiated for a cut-down price that he "thought we could definitely get" but Bradley was allegedly unwilling to go down to such a price in risking his belt and his health.

Earlier in the month, the Desert Sun reported of the impending fight between Bradley and Rios after Arum reportedly gave mandatory challenger Sadam Ali of Golden Boy Promotions a "step aside" fee to make it possible.

It was also reported that Bradley favored a fight with Rios, a bigger-name than Ali especially in Southern California, more than a match with Ali.

The winner of this potential fight would have been mandated to fight Ali afterward. But right now, it seems like Bradley is locked to defend the WBO crown he lost to Manny Pacquiao in their rematch and won again last June against Jessie Vargas versus the unheralded Ali.

Meanwhile, Rios is speculated to face Kell Brook on September 8, which can be considered a better opportunity, as per Ring TV. Arum and Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, are said to be negotiating for the potential bout.

Another name that is hovering in the air for Rios is Ruslan Provodnikov, although there are no official announcements yet of the possible replacement.

However, Dunkin was adamant that Rios would still have a bout with HBO in November, but the only issue is who will be willing to fight him on such a short notice.
