Speculations of a blockbuster three-way trade between the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, and Sacramento Kings are making rounds these days, and they involve superstars Carmelo Anthony and DeMarcus Cousins.

While the reliability of these said rumors may be debatable, it is still interesting to know how such a deal can help all teams involved to get better (or worse) or if it would really be possible for a trade of such magnitude to happen.

The trade talks all started with a video at Bleacher Report where Howard Beck identified three big-name NBA superstars allegedly on the trading block as the new season starts two months from today: Anthony, Cousins, and Joe Johnson.

It is no surprise that Johnson is included in the list as Brooklyn's eternal plans to unload his ridiculous salary is already widely known since the beginning of summer.

Anthony and Cousins have also been involved in a lot of separate trade rumors. But being linked together? It was the first time and one must admit that it is quite intriguing.

What made the rumor more interesting is the NBA Trade Machine post at ESPN where a simulation of the three-way trade was made and it resulted in a successful transaction.

The details? Cousins and his $15.9 million salary end up being with the Knicks, three Bulls players, namely Taj Gibson, Paul Gasol, and Kirk Hinrich goes to Sacramento for a total of $18.8 million, and Anthony lands at Chicago together with his $22.9 million compensation.

All three exceeded their cap rooms, however, and that would be okay since that is already their current situations.

What's curious about this deal is the projection that Chicago would get weaker because of it, while the Knicks are said to be getting the most advantage. Sacramento will be stronger as well.

A Kings' starting unit composed of Gasol, Gibson, Rudy Gay, Darren Collison, and Rajon Rondo is really not bad for George Karl. The bench is also solid with Hinrich, Ben McLemore, Marco Belinelli, Kosta Koufos, and rookie Willie Cauley-Stein. Truly, Vlade Divac would not have made a better deal.

New York ends up with Cousins, Derrick Williams, rookie Kristaps Porzingis, Arron Afflalo, and Jose Calderon as its starters, with a reliable bench that includes Robin Lopez, Kevin Seraphin, Cleanthony Early, Sasha Vujacic, and Langston Galloway. The best thing about it is Cousins' skills seem to be a great fit in the triangle.

As for the Bulls, their starting lineup becomes Joakim Noah, Nikola Mirotic, Anthony, Jimmy Butler, and Derrick Rose, which is equally formidable with Sacramento, or maybe even better, on paper. The bench becomes suspect, though, with three of their best players leaving.

Lakers Nation indicated that a "vast majority" in Sacramento's front office is okay with trading Cousins. With the deal mentioned above, the Kings are indeed in no position to lose by acquiring the trio of Bulls players.
