Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4 are going at it again by way of free games and special offers for the players this coming September.

PlayStation blog cited that PlayStation Plus members are in for a treat this September as Sony announced the title that will be given away for free for the month - "Grow Home" on PS4. The game won the online Vote to Play campaign, while runners up "Armello" and "Zombie Vikings" will be discounted by 30 percent. On the other hand, Xbox's Games with Gold extends free access to "The Deer God" to all Xbox One Gold members from September 1 to 30, while Xbox 360 owners can enjoy "Battlestations: Pacific" from September 1 to 15.

Xbox One vs PS4 rivalry has always been at the core of console gaming industry. Aside from snatching exclusive rights for the games they feature, the penultimate measure of winning is the "unit sold." So far, PS4 is winning this battle with more than 3 million sales during the first financial quarter of this year. This brings lifetime sales to 25.3 million units. According to Forbes, PS4 is poised to be Sony's best-selling console in history by the end of 2015 and generate a total of $16 billion in revenue.

Despite the obvious dominance of the competitor, Xbox executive Kudo Tsunoda stressed that their technology is doing things that can't be done by "others".

"There's a reason we're able to put on two shows of content together. We've got seven exclusives coming this holiday, and then everything coming in 2016. Not just the blockbusters, but the ID@Xbox games, the indie games. We're giving people a lot more," Tsunoda said.

Xbox One has sold over 1.4 million units from April to June.
