It was a star-studded evening at the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday. But a few stars stole the spotlight.

Pop star Taylor Swift bagged three awards including Video of the Year for "Bad Blood", Best Female Video, and Best Pop Video. Swift beat big stars like Beyonce's "7/11" and Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" among others for the coveted Video of the Year.

"There's been a lot of discussion this video and what it means, but I'm just happy that, in 2015, we live in a world where boys can play princesses, and girls can play soldiers," Swift said onstage in a report by Today.

But Swift not only had the spotlight on her for receiving major awards, she also shared the stage with Kanye West who was recognized for a lifetime-achievement award and was handed by Swift with the Video Vanguard Award. West and Swift have a history together after the rapper interrupted Swift onstage at the 2009 VMA.

"First of all, thank you, Taylor, for being so gracious in giving me this award this evening," West said.

Miley Cyrus also stole the show with her antics onstage including a wardrobe malfunction and her performance that closed the awards.
