Former pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao recently refuted his promoter, Top Rank boss Bob Arum, regarding the latter's comments that the Filipino pugilist will fight one more time next year before calling it quits to pursue politics full time.

Pacquiao told Boxing Scene that "I know better what is happening to my body" and that he wants to "just leave it alone" and "better not react to that," referring to Arum's remarks that only one fight, probably against Amir Khan or Terence Crawford, is left in the illustrious career of boxing's only eight-division world champion.

The 36-year-old Filipino congressman also refused to comment whether Arum's claim that he will run for the Philippine Senate next year is true, but he admitted that he plans to fight again next year sometime in April.

Arum had been telling reporters lately that his main cash cow, Pacquiao, is fighting his last fight in 2016 perhaps to duplicate the strategy of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s camp of making his next match sellable after a disappointing "Fight of the Century" last May.

Most boxing fans are allegedly quite upset on how Pacquiao and Mayweather had performed during their clash that they vowed to boycott their next matches. This means that a significant loss in revenue should be experienced by both fighters' camps and so they seem to be putting a sense of urgency into the fans that this is going to be the final times they are going to see their idols.

"I believe he'll take one more fight, then run for the Senate in the Philippines," Arum said, as reported by AP. "He could fight twice more, I guess, but it sets up better for him to fight, then run."

Arum also said that it is almost impossible for Pacquiao and Mayweather to fight again as both have been dealing with different issues in their closing careers.

However, Boxing News 24 recently indicated that the Top Rank chief gave fans a glimmer of hope that a rematch could still happen but only if all things perfectly fall into place.

If the circumstances allow it and the demand from fans are too great that it is guaranteed to be a half-billion dollar fight again, then both fighters may agree to go at it once more.
