Fans missed some of the action in the first game of the World Series as Fox Sports lost its broadcast feed of the game on Tuesday evening. The station issued a statement later saying that their generators suffered some electronic breakdown which caused the delayed broadcast.

The New York Post reported that the first game of the series, pitting the New York Mets against the Kansas City Royals was delayed for more than five minutes after the station's generators malfunctioned.

New York Mets Pitcher Matt Harvey had to patiently wait for the station to resume broadcast before the game continued. Baseball officials as well as the managers of both teams namely, Terry Collins of the Mets and Ned Yost of the Royals, mingled with the umpires and players as the delay dragged on.

Although FOX was able to regain its feed, fans had difficulty enjoying the game because "technical difficulties" continue to hound the game. Spectators at home were not able watch as Royals Kendrys Morales striked out.

During the technical difficulty, the station diverted its feed to its Los Angeles studio sportscasters, who were unsure how to entertained the fans - eager to know the progress of the match being held in Kauffman Stadium.

The continuing glitch prompted the station to handover the feed to the Major League Baseball (MLB) television crew. Instead of Joe Buck, FOX viewers saws Matt Vasgersian giving a play by play description of the game. It was only in the bottom of the fifth inning that FOX sports and its announcers were able to return.

FOX Sports officials have issued an apology for the broadcast snafu and promised to make sure that rest of the games in the Series will not suffer the same fate. Two years ago, a similar power loss resulted in a half hour delay during a match between Ravens and 49ers in the New Orleans Superdome.

The Kansas City Royals won the 14-inning game leading a score of 5-4 against New York Mets, according to USA Today. In 2014, the Royals missed their chance as the they were defeated by The San Francisco Giants for the title.
