TechTimes reported that Kick made it clear in his statement that it is not about a digital restoration like the variant launched in September. Instead, they are remaking it "from the ground up." Kick explained that with the purchase of full franchise rights, the studio has all it needs to pursue its goal.

Robert Waters, the artist who did the concept art for the original game, teams up again with Kick to bring the remake to PC screens.

Night Dive Studios is not that popular as Blizzard or Electronic Arts today, but the studio's contribution to gaming history is just as significant. Famous games such as 'Deus Ex' and 'BioShock' took great inspiration from the company's early 90's title game System Shock.

During the last couple of years, the studio started bringing PC gaming classics back to life such as 'I Must Scream', 'I Have No Mouth', and 'System Shock', 'System Shock 2', 'Harvester', 'Sid Meier's spy strategy game Covert Action', 'The 11th Hour', 'Bad Mojo', 'The 7th Guest', and a whole bunch of others for digital sale. This strategy has made the company sell a large number of PC titles on GOG.com and is motivating it to aim a lot higher this time.

The release date of the game was not mentioned by Kick, but he said something that is increasing the anticipation of PC gamers. He mentioned that they could be making System Shock 3 someday, provided a more powerful publisher than Night Dive Studios takes the reins.

Some people have described any modification to classic game titles as "heretical." Let's just hope that the gaming studio's future remake of System Shock would meet the approval of gamers.
