Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Sam Mitchell recently announced that he is going to put back shooting guard Kevin Martin in the starting lineup in favor of small forward Tayshaun Prince to boost the team's scoring and outside shooting.

ESPN reported that 2015 NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins will slide back to his more comfortable position at no. 3 while Martin will partner with Ricky Rubio in the Wolves' starting backcourt. First overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns and Kevin Garnett will still be the first options at center and power forward.

Mitchell initially chose to start Rubio and Wiggins at the 1 and 2 spots during the start of the season with Prince manning the wing.

However, after a 5-8 start and two straight setbacks, the 52-year-old coach admitted that they need to add more firepower in their starting unit to be able to stay at pace with opposing teams during the beginning of games.

The answer was to insert back the sweet-shooting Martin as a starter and it was right on the money as the Wolves defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 100-95, on Monday.

It was the first start for Martin this season and he scored 11 points in almost 32 minutes of action. His field goal percentage is still down at 36 percent, but it was a nice start to get out of his scoring rut.

"I've never been through a stretch like this before," Martin said according the Star Tribune, referring to his ongoing shooting slump. "For me, I'm just waiting for that track record to kick in. I'm confident that I'll get out of it and get back to being the player I was."

The 32-year-old, 11-year veteran is recognized has one of the best shooters and scorers in the league throughout his career. But just recently, his percentages have gone down - most probably because of the limited playing time he receives.
