Warner Bros. Pictures' Creed is an inspiring story that deals with the passion for boxing and the epic character of the legendary Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone).

Although the movie tells the journey of an aspiring boxer Adonis "Donny" Creed (Michael B. Jordan), it does not fail to highlight the heroism of Rocky in the boxing ring.

"Creed is not melodrama-free. A subplot involving Rocky's health, hinted at in one of the film's trailers, feels tired and thin. Yet the themes of love, loyalty, ambition, honor and legacy that lend sinew to the story are delivered with such a clean punch that they as feel as fresh as they did in 1976,"  the Washington Post reported.

Experts say the movie is definitely for the followers of Rocky movies and for boxing enthusiasts.

Creed shows the struggles of Donny, the son of Rocky's late best friend and fellow boxer Apollo Creed. Donny, who grew up in foster homes and juvenile public centers, had been fighting small fights in Mexico before travelling to Philadelphia. The movie presents scenes depicting the classic underdog boxer. When Donny arrived in Philadelphia, he sought the help of Rocky. This is where the story evolves - the relationship between the trainer/adviser and protégé.

Creed does not fail to entertain moviegoers with action-pack scenes in the boxing ring coupled with great musical scoring. A little romance is on the side when Donny falls in love with Philadelphian musician Bianca (Tessa Thompson).

"Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler from a script he wrote with Aaron Covington, is self-aware without being cute about it," wrote the New York Times. "Creed is a dandy piece of entertainment, soothingly old-fashioned and bracingly up-to-date. The punches fly, the music soars (hip-hop along with Ludwig Goransson's variations on the old Bill Conti brass) and the ground is prepared for Creed II."
