Ian Fleming, the creator of the iconic 007 agent James Bond, once owned a classic 1953 Bentley R-Type Continental Flashback graced with black Connolly leather.

Fleming eventually gave the car to his American friend Ivan Felix Bryce, as a gift, according to Fox News.

However, Gullwing Motors, a classic motor dealer, recently found the vintage vehicle gathering dust at a garage in Hancock Park, Los Angeles.

In the Bond Universe, the agent has strong ties with an American agent Felix Leiter. Fleming's friend, Ivan Felix Bryce served as an inspiration for that character.

Leiter was a supporting character in the Bond series, marking his first appearance in 'Casino Royale' until his last appearance in 'The Man with the Golden Gun', according to Daily Mail.

Fleming didn't just choose the gray colored car by accident, as he was known to have a liking to sleek sport cars, as manifested by the cinematic portrayal of the secret agent driving these type of vehicles as well.

The Bentley vehicle was considered the company's flagship sports car and it was deemed the 'fastest production four seater in the world'. The vintage vehicle is an older counterpart of today's Bentley Continental GT Speed.

In the 1965 movie 'Thunderball', Bond, played by actor Sean Connery, bought the worn-out R-Type Continental Bentley and restored it to a more sophisticated piece of car, graced with black leather seat covers.

In the 2012 movie 'Skyfall', this was supposedly the vehicle Bond was about to drive and yet it remained behind garage doors.

Before Fleming gave the car as a gift, he modified it into a more advanced version of the R-type. Fleming added rear spats, lightweight seats, fitted luggage and a racehorse mascot to complete the design.

Bryce's family took the car to several part of the world such as England, Nassau, New York nd Vermont.

After selling the car, the Bentley went into the hands of different owners. The last owner was a surgeon based in Beverly Hills, who purchased the vehicle in 1978.

Gullwing inspected the Bentley and found that it has retained its original features, interiors and the serial numbers matched. They described it as an 'ideal work of restoration' and is currently priced at $1,495,000 (RMB 9.5 million)
