A month into the 2015-2016 season and a potential trade involving this year's no. 2 pick D'Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers and no. 3 pick Jahlil Okafor of the Philadelphia 76ers has been abuzz all over the Internet.

The storyline is that Russell is not being given enough playing time by Byron Scott, especially during crunch time of games, which reportedly makes the former Ohio State standout unhappy in Tinseltown while Okafor is said to be clearly not fit with Nerlens Noel in Philly, which is assumed as the main reason that the Sixers are still winless after 17 games so far.

Could a swap between the two lottery picks be the best deal moving forward for the two aforementioned clubs?

ESPN Insider's Chad Ford said that "there might be a team or two out there where Okafor fits better" and that he is looking closely at the possibility of it being the Lakers. He also noted that "Russell has been a tough fit in L.A." and suggested a potential Russell-Okafor trade.

"The Lakers flipped from Okafor to Russell the night of the draft," said Ford. "Would the two teams consider swapping the two players? That would effectively be a draft-night trade, a few months later."

While Ford's suggestion will most probably benefit both teams at the moment, it is highly unlikely that the Lakers will give up what they deem is the potential heir to Kobe Bryant's throne and it is also almost impossible for the Sixers to trade Okafor, who is the best rookie statistically so far in the season.

Laker Facts, a fan-made blog at Sports Blog, said that while Russell is not going to be the next Kobe Bryant, the 19-year-old Louisville, Kentucky native "clearly is going to have something to offer in the future" of the illustrious franchise.

Meanwhile, Okafor's recent off-court issues may have been adding to his on-court woes in Philadelphia.

Yahoo Sports said that Okafor having no veteran mentor in his pro transition is making his "long-term development" slow down, unlike his fellow rookies Russell, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Kristaps Porzingis who has Bryant, Kevin Garnett, and Carmelo Anthony to guide them effectively.
