The US Navy will hold a joint memorial service with the National Park Service on Monday in commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor Attack. The service will be held at Kilo Pier instead of the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center.

This year's theme will be "Pathway to Reconciliation: From Engagement to Peace," which highlights the efforts of both the U.S. and Japan toward their friendship.

The National Park Service and the U.S. Navy plan to hold a joint memorial service on Monday to mark the 74th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack that brought the U.S. into World War II.

According to KITV news, the planned joint service will double as a preparation for a much bigger memorial service next year to mark the 75th anniversary of the Japanese attack that took the lives of 2,400 Americans.

An estimated 3,000 guests are expected to arrive plus the attending general public. Attendees are expected to double next year for the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Daniel Martinez of the National Park Service told KITV news team that the Kilo Pier offers not only more space but also a better view. "When you look out from Kilo Pier across the way, less than a quarter-mile away, you're looking at the USS Arizona Memorial and the Battleship Missouri, so it's a wonderful venue," Martinez said.
