North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un hopes to enhance relations and to redeem the alliance with China by sending his self-picked female band Moranbong to China.

Moranbong Band is expected to perform at Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts starting December 12 to 14.  The group is due to arrive in China along with the State Merited Chorus to provide 'friendship performances.'

The anticipation is high that the presence of the Moranbong Band in China will help promote the cultural and artistic collaboration between the people of both countries.

According to BBC News, Moranbong Band was established in 2012 out of an ensemble favoured by Kim Jung-un's late father, Kim Jong-il.  The members of the band were specifically selected by the present Supreme Commander.

The band is well known for their interpretive styles of pop-rock Western-style performances and clothing. 'We Think of the Marshall (Mr Kim) Day and Night', 'My Country is the Best' and 'Theme for Rocky' are just some of the band's noted songs.

In the past, China and North Korea embraced a close diplomatic connection. But the gap surfaced in the middle of the two nations right after Kim Jung-un came to power in 2011 with rising apprehension in China over North Korea's numerous tests of its nuclear weapons specifically the latest one conducted in 2013.
