Twin shuttlers Luo Ying and Luo Yu of China captured the 2015 Dubai World Superseries Women's Doubles title at the Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai last Sunday, defeating the pair of Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl from Denmark, two sets to one.

The final set was not completed as the other half of the Danish pair, Pedersen, could not continue anymore and eventually withdrew due to stomach problems with the Chinese duo already ahead by ten points.

Ying and Yu dropped the first set, 14-21, as they were not able to anticipate the attacking strategy of their lengthy and more experienced counterparts. The duo tried to use "a clever zig-zag play and short shuttles close to the net", but it was futile against the Danes' defense.

"That was our plan," Juhl said, via Xinhuanet, referring to their "aggressive play" during the opener.

After adjusting to their opponent's tactics with more aggression and improved playing acumen of "switching shooting frequencies between slow shuttlecocks and fast shuttlecocks", the Chinese pair took the second set by a wide margin, 21-9.

"After we lost the first set, we adapted our tactics to our opponents," Yu said.

The sisters had a quick start in the final set, leading 5-0 off the gates, then 7-2, to never look back as Pedersen looked ill and exhausted until she had to retire when the score reached 14-4.

The 24-year-old twins alluded their win to hard work, even acknowledging that they "played overall a great season in 2015."

This is the fifth career title of the sisters after also winning this year's 2015 Malaysia Super Series Premier in Kuala Lumpur last April. Their other victories were during the 2012 Australia Open Grand Prix Gold, 2013 Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold, and 2014 China Masters Grand Prix Gold.

The Luo twins defeated the Japanese team of Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi, 2-0, in the semifinals to advance to the title showdown while the Danes beat Indonesian twosome Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Greysia Polii also in two sets in the other semis match, as per Business Standard.

Ying and Yu are set to compete in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics where the pair would be one of the favorites to win the gold medal.
