Basketball News: Charles Gaines of Zhejiang Golden Bulls Bags Player of the Week Award in CBA League

American forward Charles Gaines of the Zhejiang Golden Bulls had a very amazing performance in the 31^st round of the Chinese Basketball (CBA) league earning him the right to be named Asia-Basket.com Player of the Week.

The 34-year-old professional basketball player had a double-double production of 32 points and 11 rebounds in the Golden Bulls recent game against the league's lowly Foshan Long-Lions, where Gaines led his ballclub to a convincing 145-135 victory.

Gaines played college basketball at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2001 to 2004. He is a veteran of different basketball leagues in the world.

Gaines moved to Italy in 2005 and signed for the Nuovo Basket Viola Reggio Calabria, which participates in the second- tier of the Italian league pyramid, the Serie A2 Basket.

After his stint in the Italian league, he moved to France and joined the ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne for the French Pro A league's 2005-06 season and played for the Joventut Badalona in Spain in Liga ACB 2006-07 season.

The former Golden Eagles standout also had short stints in Turkey and Israel. He also became part of the Austin Toros of the NBA's Developmental League for the 2008-09 season.

Gaines is in his second year with the Golden Bulls. He is one of the CBA's top rebounder being the ninth best with 11.5 rebounds per game. He has a nice 59.5 field goal percentage.

American Jabari Brown came second best. The former Los Angeles Lakers swingman is in his first season with the Foshan Long-Lions. The 23-year-old Brown recorded an amazing game production of 62 big points with 5 rebounds and six assists. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 32.0 points per game.

Brown's team, Foshan is at the very bottom of the team standings. Having lost 28 games of all its 31 matches played and they are already out for the league's coming playoffs.
