China's football transfer market is continuing its record breaking spear, as on Friday morning Jiangsu Suning club romped in Shakhtar Donetsk's Alex Teixeira for whopping $56 million. This is the highest money transfer paid by any Chinese football club till date.

The news was made official on Shakhtar Donetsk's website. The statement on shakhtar.com read:  "Shakhtar Donetsk and Jiangsu Suning FC have agreed on all the necessary formalities for the transfer of Alex Teixeira to the Chinese club. Transfer fee for the Brazilian midfielder is €50m. Shakhtar thank Alex for the time spent in the team and wish him success at his new club."

English Premier Club Liverpool was also keenly pursuing Alex Teixeira. Liverpool reportedly offer $35 million for Brazilian midfielder, but Shakhtar Donetsk rejected it on account of the 'unfairly low price' offered by the English club.

Interestingly, this record breaking deal meant that Chinese transfer market has been broken thrice in past 10 days. The first record breaking deal happened when Chelsea's midfielder Ramires moved to same club (Jiangsu Suning) for reportedly $36 million, followed by Jackson Martinez's record breaking $41 million move to Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao from Atletico Madrid.

Buoyed by lucrative TV rights and commercial deals, Chinese Super League clubs have reportedly spent more money in January transfer market than English Primer and Spanish La Liga clubs. Prompting many to believe that Chinese football is going through a renaissance phase.

Many football analysts, however, believe that there is actually more to recent splurging done by Chinese clubs. They are of the opinion that some Chinese clubs have been financially backed by the Chinese government, as President Xi Jinping, who is a big football fan, wants China to make big stride in the game.
