The long wait is drawing to a close as the reboot of the highly popular "Doom" franchise has finally given an official release date - May 13. The game's publisher, Bethesda, announced the news on Thursday Feb. 4 and released a new trailer that highlights some of the game's main elements.

The trailer, in true "Doom" fashion, is filled with blood, grisly death sequence and demons being splattered by shotguns. The game has been in development hell after it went through multiple changes over the years, according to The Verge.

Experts believe the game will have an explosive single player campaign as well as multiplayer modes. The game will come with map editor so players will have the chance to create their own levels and share it with their friends.

"Doom" will be the successor of "Doom 3" which was released in 2004. The game was received with mixed reaction during its launch and did not perform in the market as expected.

Gamers can purchase the game for $60. There is also a $120 collector's edition which includes a 12-inch Revenant demon statue enclosed in a metal case.

Those who pre-ordered the game will receive the "Demon Multiplayer Pack" as a bonus. The pack includes a handful of skins upgrade as well as six "Hack Modules" which gamers can use for a one-time-only boost in the game's multiplayer mode.

The new "Doom" was originally announced as "Doom 4" back in May 2008 when the id Software was looking for developers to help develop the game.

In a statement acquired by Us Gamers, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead said, "Doom is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth."

Once released, "Doom" will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as well as Windows PC.
