A new runoff election poll released on Tuesday showed former environmentalist Marina Silva's surged of voters support against incumbent President Dilma Rousseff in Brazil’s presidential race.

According to polling institute Ibope’s survey, Silva earned 29 percent of the votes, while President Rousseff received 34 percent, down from 38 percent in the previous survey in early August. Senator Aecio Neves, the main opposition candidate, also dropped four percentage points from 23 in the last Ibope poll and now has 19 percent.

Sources said that the transport industry lobby CNT also published a separate poll on Wednesday that showed the increasing support for Silva while votes for both for Rousseff and Neves are dropping.

Carlos Melo, a political scientist at the Insper business school, said Silva is the top favorite for the runoff and if she continues to avoid mistakes and will remain in a very strong position in the race.

Reports had indicated that Silva has a higher probability to gain more support because of her low rejection rate compared to President Rousseff who received 36 percent of voters who declined to vote Silva as president.

People considered Silva as an anti-establishment figure who is capable of redeeming the ethical principles of Brazilian politics. The environmentalist and devout evangelical Christian is believed to draw votes from citizens who are dissatisfied with Brazil's political system.

Analysts said Silva acquired sympathy over the tragic death of the late Eduardo Campos, her former running mate in Brazilian Socialist party (PSB).

Brazil’s political analysts declared that they will be watching the opinion polls and see if Silva’s voters support will die down after the initial surge, reports confirmed.
