"Destiny" developer Bungie announced on April 8 that it will release a new update on April 12. Although the update will be rolled out on all platforms for free, Bungie said that a handful of gears and items will be exclusively released for the PlayStation consoles.

"We're really excited to provide you with new things to do and new things to learn in the April Update. The Reef is about to become the center of action in the game again, and the party wouldn't be the same without you," Bungie community manager DeeJ posted a statement on its blog.

Six new contents will be exclusively released for the PlayStation platform including Exotic Sniper Rifle: Zen Meteor; Sparrow: Velumbra; Quest: Essence of Darkness; Warlock Armor: Barkhan Dune I; Hunter Armor: Long Tomorrow 9G; Titan Armor: Jovian Guard.

The Exotic Sniper Rifle: Zen Meteor can be acquired by decrypting Exotic or Legendary Engrams. To acquire the Sparrow: Velumbra, players need to complete the Fight Fire With Fire mission or the new Essence of Darkness quest, according to Polygon. The three new armor sets, one for each class, can be acquired by decrypting Sublime Engram.

Although Bungie did not confirm whether the PlayStation exclusive contents will become available on the Xbox platform, gamers believe that it will be in due time. Tech experts said that the game will be unbalanced if these contents will only be available for PlayStation gamers and not to their Xbox counterparts. In the past, contents that were rolled out exclusively to the PlayStation platform were later rolled out to the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles after one year.

Bungie has yet to confirm the official change log of the upcoming update. However, speculations are strong that it should include new missions and an increase in the maximum Light level.
