The Oklahoma City police officer accused of multiple counts of rape and sexual abuse committed while he was on-duty has been formally charged on Friday.

The Oklahoma City District Attorney's office formally filed the charges against Daniel Ken Holtzclaw, 27, which included three counts of first-degree rape, seven counts of forcible oral sodomy, six counts of sexual battery, six counts of indecent exposure, and one count each of first-degree rape by instrumentation, first-degree burglary, and felonious stalking.

Court records show that Holtzclaw, at the time of his arrest, has been alleged of nine counts of sexual assault. These allegations included rape accusations claimed by seven black women, ranging from ages 34 to 58. The incidents were said to have occurred from February 2014 through June 2014. Since Holtzclaw's arrest, the district attorney's office disclosed that other victims have surfaced to file sexual assault charges against the Oklahoma police officer.

A cash bond of $5 million has been ordered by a judge, stating that Holtzclaw has been identified as a threat to the public. His acts of conducting research to correctly select his purported victims, then tracking these women down to finally commit the crimes he's been plotting against them signify his contemptible intentions. However, Scott Adams, the suspect's lawyer, sought for a bond reduction to $139,000. Adams claimed that this amount would be in accordance with the state's bond schedule in connection with the crimes Holtzclaw allegedly committed. In addition, Adams maintained that his client "denies he ever did anything inappropriate with anyone".

A former Eastern Michigan University football player, Holtzclaw was arrested on August 21, 2014 at roughly 3 p.m. His arrest was the result of an internal investigation conducted following a complaint filed by a woman who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by Holtzclaw during a traffic stop. This allegation prompted six other purported victims of the Oklahoma City police officer to come forward and file their own complaints. Police records show that the victims reported that Holtzclaw threatened them with either arrest or physical harm if they refuse to comply with his wishes.

If the crimes charged against him are proven to be true, Holtzclaw will be sentenced to life imprisonment without any chance of acquiring parole. At present, he is detained in the Oklahoma County jail.
