This is not the first time that Ive is donating something to the Design Museum. The world famous designer offered a prototype mobile phone to the museum back in 1990. In 2003, Ive received the first Designer of the Year award from the Design Museum for his work on the Apple iMac.

The new iPad Pro will feature 12.9-inch screen. To add to an element of rarity to the item, a special laser engraving that reads "Edition 1 of 1" will be featured on the device. It also comes in custom yellow gold anodized chassis with a matching blue Smart Cover which is specially crafted from French leather.

The iPad Pro will also come with an Apple Pencil which sports a similar yellow gold gilding and comes in orange color, according to Apple Insider.

The specially designed iPad Pro is expected to fetch a premium price with estimates putting it at around $14,200 up to $21,300. The auction will take place on April 28.

Aside from Ive's exclusive iPad Pro, a handful of prominent people and firms have generously donated items to further the vision of the Design Museum.

In a statement acquired by Wallpaper, Design Museum curator Deyan Sudjic said, "We are extremely grateful to the friends of the museum who had donated such outstanding pieces to help us fulfill our ambition of creating one of London's most important new cultural sites."
