Microsoft announced the release of State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition on the Xbox One in Spring 2015.

The Xbox Live Arcade hit will be getting a significant makeover. It will feature an improvement on the visuals of the game. It still has the bundle in the two DLC releases (Lifeline and Breakdown), and will introduce some new gameplay elements to the core State of Decay game.

The improved visuals will run at 1080p compared to the previous 720p of the original Xbox 360 version.

The open-world zombie survival title was launched on the Xbox 360 in June 2013 and received a warm response even in other game platforms.

This warm reception of the game let the company bring it to the next-gen console with the added features.

"We wanted to address some of the animations, generally do a lot of polish on that, and just generally improve on the environment textures," said Jeff Strain, founder of game developer Undead Labs.

Strain also dropped some hints on the future of the State of Decay franchise, saying that there will be more out of this game.

However, Microsoft said they will release the information on the new content when they come closer to the game's release date next year.

Earlier this year, Undead Labs confirmed that they signed a multi-year extension deal with Microsoft.

The subject of the signing is probably the State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition.

The game was released on PC in September last year, and in December, it managed to sell a total of one million units across all platforms.
