Hard-luck NBA club Los Angeles Clippers recently lost their top two best players, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, to separate injuries in the middle of their first round series with the Portland Trail Blazers.

ESPN's Arash Markazi reported that the Clippers "will miss" Griffin for the rest of the playoffs after aggravating a quadriceps in Game 4 of their series with the Blazers on Monday while Paul already "underwent surgery Tuesday morning in Los Angeles to repair a right hand fracture" he suffered in the third period of the same game as well.

It was also reported that Paul will be sidelined for at least four to six weeks, which means that LA must reach the conference finals or the NBA finals itself if the team wants him to play again in the ongoing postseason.

The Clippers lost Game 5 to the Blazers on Wednesday night to trail 2-3 in their best-of-seven series. Game 6 will be at the Moda Center in Portland on Friday.

Markazi noted that LA had suffered "bad luck" in three straight seasons with Doc Rivers in charge as the team never advanced beyond the second round of the playoffs each time because of different peculiar causes.

"It's bum's luck three years in a row," said Rivers, as per Fox Sports. "You just got to keep going. You wake up in the morning and you feel like we're going to find a way."

"We still have home court. No one has won a road game yet in this series," the one-time champions coach said. "Now we have to find a way of winning tomorrow and that's as far as we can think right now. My job with the guys is to make sure that they're ready and focused. It's easy when you have the injuries we have to think all kinds of other stuff."

Starting shooting guard J.J. Redick is also nursing his own left heel injury but still had suited up for Rivers during their Game 5 loss.
