Tech giant Google is rolling out a new labelling scheme for all apps that are part of its Play digital store. The new labelling scheme will indicate every apps that contain an advertisement of any kind.

Late last year, content providers and app developers started receiving emails from Google informing them to sign up for the company's Developer Console and declare whether their apps contain ads or not. The email Google sent to content developers' state that the company is planning to implement a new labelling scheme this year.

If developers fail to uphold the new standard set by Google, their apps will be reported and the act will be considered as grounds for delisting, according to Engadget.

According to Android Police, the Google email states that, "Early next year, users will start to see the 'Ads' label on apps that contain advertising, both inside and outside Designed for Families." Designed for Families is an initiative launched by Google last year.

Although late in April does not literally translates to "early next year," some tech analysts are still pleased to know that Google is launching the new labelling scheme. As of this writing, the words "Contains ads" started to show up in apps that contain any type of advertising. The text is located right below the Install, Buy or Open button and right next to the In-app purchases button.

Some tech analysts said that the changes were made on Google's servers instead of rolling it out as an update for Play Store. Some users noted that not all phones or tablets running on the Android platform received the new labelling feature, which could mean that Google may have rolled it out to selected users.
