Several homeowners living among the 13 high-rise buildings in Shijiazhuang found small worms in their tap water. The source of their water is a well sunk by the developer according to newspaper reports.

Residents living in a residential area in Hebei province grumbled upon finding small worms in their tap water recently. This has never occurred before per reports from the Yanzhao Evening News.

"I never noticed them before, but these days I see worms once in a while: some long, some short, some red and some white," one resident was quoted by the newspaper. The resident felt uncomfortable with this recent discovery especially knowing that she used water to cook meals.

As a safety precaution, some residents used wet tissues as a sieve to filter the water. Several residents decided to use barrelled water instead while others installed purifying machines.

The newspaper asked for a statement from the property management company. It was found out that the company had the water tank cleaned and sterilised by professionals earlier. Thet advised residents to empty the reserve tanks of their water heaters. It seems some of the residents neglected to follow the advice.

Residents who failed to empty their reserve tank provided an ideal condition for the worms to reproduce. It is believed that warm water is an ideal breeding place for worms. This may explain why some of them found worms in their tap water.

The residential area is one of the many communities found outside the city's second road. Their water supply is not connected to the government's water supply according to the report.
