Recent rumors emerged that the Los Angeles Lakers could snag Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James as the four-time NBA MVP may opt out of his contract this summer.

Lakers Nation reported that James' "number one priority is delivering a championship to the city of Cleveland", but if he could pull it off this year then there is a chance that he may choose to leave the Cavs again this time for the Hollywood squad.

The report cited ESPN's Stephen A. Smith as the source as the First Take analyst said in his program that "the odds on favorite is for him to remain in Cleveland, but if he delivers the Cavs a championship this year, it's entirely possible that LeBron could elect to go to someplace like Los Angeles".

Smith clarified that a combination of having "a great situation" in LA and Cleveland winning the NBA title this year will make LeBron "entertain the possibility" of playing for the Lakers next season.

"His lack of infinity for Los Angeles and Hollywood and all of that stuff has dissipated dramatically from what I'm told, and if the Lakers were aimed in the right direction and they had the right situation, and he delivered a championship to Cleveland, sure he would entertain it," Smith said.

Meanwhile, Bleacher Report indicated that Lakers legend Magic Johnson is asking team officials to chase James, Kevin Durant, and DeMar DeRozan when the free-agency period begins this July.

According to the report, Johnson said in a series of social media posts that the Lakers should "go after" Durant first then reach out to James' agent "just in case he leaves" the Cavs. Magic also suggested the acquisition of the Toronto Raptors shooting guard as a more realistic signing in the offseason.

With the Lakers now parading a new head coach in the person of former player Luke Walton, the man who is hands-on responsible for the Golden State Warriors' historic 24-0 start during the last regular season, management hopes that they can entice big-name free agents this summer to join the squad.

Walton led the defending champions to a 39-4 slate, the second-best start in the history of the NBA, before Steve Kerr returned to his head coaching duties on January 22nd of this year.
