Jeremy Lin Values Stability, Happiness Over Money in Free Agency

After bursting onto the NBA scene as "Linsanity" with the New York Knicks, Jeremy Lin has yet to find a permanent home among the league's 30 teams. Lin said his priority as a free agent this summer is finding a place where he can settle down and enjoy his career.

Speaking to the media in Charlotte, Lin said, "I just want to find a great situation and just be in that situation. I don't like moving. I don't like moving every year. I don't like boxes and unpacking boxes and packing boxes."

Lin went on to say that staying in Charlotte with the Hornets "would be the perfect situation."

Charlotte has five free agents this offseason, and according to Hornets GM Rich Cho, small forward Nicolas Batum is the team's top priority.

Cho said he wanted to keep as many of his free agents as possible, but that it would be "tricky."

In Lin's case, Charlotte probably cannot offer much money, as they are worried about the cap space his contact would take.

If Lin and the Hornets part ways, it will not be difficult for the NBA's only Ivy Leaguer to find a job. Lin's name has already been linked to teams such as the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Nets offseason plans start with finding a point guard, and Lin is one of the best available. Also, the Nets new coach, Kenny Atkinson, played a role in "Linsanity" as an assistant coach for the Knicks.

The 76ers theory is also based on a coaching connection. Mike D'Antoni, an assistant in Philadelphia, was the head coach of the Knicks during Lin's meteoric rise to stardom.

Whether or not one of these two teams can lure Lin to their roster could depend on his definition of "a great situation." The Nets and the 76ers were two of the worst teams in the NBA last season.
