With the current NBA season closing in to its conclusion, NBA trade rumors are now sprouting. One of which is the rumor that the Boston Celtics is interested of acquiring the Chicago Bulls' star Jimmy Butler in order to sign Kevin Durant.

According to Sportsrageous, the Celtics is now aiming to acquire Durant who is 4-time NBA scoring champion, and an NBA All Star MVP. However, the said report did note that if the Celtics would want to get the 6 ft. 9 superstar, the management should at least acquire decent stars from other teams. One of the names that are surfacing is Butler, a 6 ft. 7 shooting guard/small forward which had a 2 consecutive appearance in 2015 and 2016 All Star game.

Although, it is said that it would not be easy to acquire Butler because the Bulls may only let go of him if they would gain more from the trade.

Meanwhile, it can be remembered that the 2007-2008 NBA season was the birth of Boston's big 3, namely Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. This move of the Celtics' general manager, Danny Ainge, was a success, as the team did won their 17th NBA championship title defeating Kobe's Los Angeles Lakers, CBS Sports reported. The same publication reported that if the Celtics want to replicate the success it had way back in 2007, then the general manager of Celtics should acquire Butler to get a chance of getting Durant in the off-season.

On the other hand, reports indicate that even if acquiring Butler has a chance of signing Durant, the possibility of success that KD would wear a Celtic uniform is not 100 percent. Currently, the Thunder is fighting for its Western Conference title against the conference's top seed, the Golden State Warriors. The series is now tied in 1 a piece, cites NBA's official website.

Perhaps, fans should just wait until the off-season to know if Ainge would be able to pull off the rumored Durant-Butler project.
