CSN Chicago's Mark Schanowski mentioned the said scenario in his article posted last week as the Bulls are said to be preparing on a major rebuild after missing the playoffs this season.

"Philadelphia has drafted three young bigs in recent years, and might be willing to include Chicago native Jahlil Okafor in a possible deal. Would the Sixers be willing to trade the top pick and Okafor for Butler, Niko Mirotic and the Bulls' 1st round pick this year? Maybe the Bulls could sweeten the deal by including Taj Gibson or that future Sacramento No. 1 pick," Schanowski reported.

The writer mentioned that Chicago's core that brought them to the brink of an NBA title a few years back is already "gone" as big men Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol are expected to accept offers when they become unrestricted free agents in July while team leader Derrick Rose is believed to follow suit next summer.

It was suggested that the six-time NBA champions should explore the trade market with their number one asset, two-time All-Star Butler, and see if they can concoct a deal that would initiate their impending rebuild.

Schanowski recommended several trade pictures, but the first one he mentioned was that with the cellar dwellers of the most recent NBA regular season.

It was reported that the Sixers and Los Angeles Lakers, holders of the first and second overall selections in this June's draft, are open to deal their top picks in order to "add All-Star caliber veterans to the roster instead of more young players".

Meanwhile, SB Nation indicated that Okafor is "the most likely trade candidate" for the Sixers with the impending arrival of Joel Embiid to their roster.

Philadelphia will be heavy in their front court with the three youngsters of Okafor, Embiid, and Nerlens Noel and so the team is allegedly planning to deal one of them this summer.

With that, the Bulls are in prime position to snag either LSU's Ben Simmons or Duke's Brandon Ingram as their potential franchise player of the future. However, they may have to give up their best player at the moment to make that happen.
