Lee Min Ho's fundraising platform Promiz has bagged the Korea Good Brand Award, the actor's agency MYM Entertainment announced on Thursday.

Promiz, which was founded by Lee in 2014, manages the nonprofit "Good Market" which gives all its revenue to charity. Its web platform "Knock" gives 8 cents for every new subscriber on the website, according to Kpop Herald.

The project has since donated around $340,000, which includes about $296,000 in cash and $44,000 in kind. Its beneficiaries include Holt Children's Services, Food Bank, and UNICEF.

In one of its projects, Promiz together with Unicef Korea and Lee's fans celebrated World Water Day on March 22 by donating about $42,400 to buy 6.5 million water-purification tables for more than half a million children, thus preventing waterborne diseases.

In contrast to the filthy rich and arrogant Gu Jun-pyo he played on the hit Korean series Boys Over Flowers, Lee has been involved in various community service activities. For instance, he participated in a project in Inner Mongolia where he joined his fans to plant some 510 trees. His Mexican fans, meanwhile, collected and gathered used bottles and bottle caps and donated their earnings to leukemia patients.

When asked why he is pursuing such humanitarian acts, Lee told Inquirer: "My goal is to change perception about giving money for charity. A lot of people still think that this is only for the rich. I used to think like this, but this isn't true."

"Begin by donating the smallest amount you can afford. You'll soon realize how easy it is to support worthy causes," he advised.

Korea Good Brand Award recognizes brands that have gained a high level of confidence from consumers.
