Billy Elliot actor Jamie Bell is reportedly in discussion with producers about succeeding Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

The 30-year-old actor is currently in talks with executive producer Barbara Broccoli over the iconic role. Broccoli was impressed by Bell's performance in the upcoming romance Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, on which she served as a producer.

"Barbara has been a fan of Jamie for a long time and has even thought about him playing another role in the franchise before, a source told The Sun. "Everyone remembers Jamie as the little boy in Billy Elliott, but he's now bulked up and got some serious roles under his belt.

"Tom Hiddleston and Aidan Turner are still in the frame, but Jamie has really shown that he is definitely up there competing with them," the source added.

Thor actor Tom Hiddleston is currently the hot favorite to play 007 in the Bond franchise, followed closely by Poldark star Aidan Turner. Apart from Hiddleston and Turner, Idris Elba and Damien Lewis are also in contention to take over the reigns from Craig.

Earlier this month, there were reports that Craig was "done" playing Bond and turned down a whopping $100 million from MGM to return for two more Bond films after Spectre, as previously reported.

If Bell is chosen as the next Bond, there's no doubt that he'll do justice to his role as a secret agent. The actor recently wrapped up 6 Days, in which he plays an elite SAS soldier who storms the Iranian Embassy in London along with his team after it is taken over by six armed gunmen in 1980.
