Wild trade rumors have emerged that the Boston Celtics could swap their third overall pick in the upcoming June NBA Draft to the Philadelphia 76ers for the team's young center Jahlil Okafor.

If the speculations are true, Philly will be set to have two of the top three picks in the draft as they already have the no.1 pick while the Los Angeles Lakers own the second selection.

CBS Sports indicated in its mock-draft article that with the Sixers intending to select LSU's Ben Simmons as the top pick this year, he would be a "precarious fit" to Okafor, who was last year's third overall selection, as both players require the ball in their hands for them to be effective.

Trading such a high pick is said to be "quite rare" in the NBA, but if Okafor would have been included in this coming draft, he will also be the third pick behind Simmons and Brandon Ingram, making the trade sensible for the Celtics.

The article then suggested that Philadelphia can then draft Providence point guard Kris Dunn with the no. 3 pick as the Sixers will "get a better roster fit and get an extra year of control and an extra year on his rookie deal".

As for Boston, they are surely better off with Okafor than anyone else besides Simmons and Ingram in the existing 2016 draft pool. The trade would then a win-win for both squads as they address both of their roster needs.

Meanwhile, ESPN reported that Philadelphia is currently prepared to "explore trades" involving Okafor and their other young big man, Nerlens Noel, and it is highly probable that at least one of them will be moved before draft day.

It was mentioned that new team president and general manager Bryan Colangelo aims to speed up the Sixers' "return to playoff contention", and the executive believes that trading one or two of their surplus big men is key to achieving the team's goals.
