It appears that AMD is slowly catching up to some of its rivals with the recent unveiling of the Radeon RX 480 and the promise it made for the Polaris and Zen architectures. Recently, AMD once again snatched another important market, this time against Nvidia. Rumors claim that tech giant Apple is planning to tap AMD's Radeon Technology Group to provide graphics processors for its upcoming line of laptops.

According to Fudzilla, Apple MacBooks running on AMD's Polaris architecture are already in the works. Apple reportedly opted to use AMD's Polaris 11 chips due to their relatively thin form factor.

Aside from the MacBook, AMD also snatched a new deal with Apple to power its upcoming iMac line of products. There are rumors that the new iMac will have AMD's Polaris inside it to boost the graphics processing power of the computer, a much-needed upgrade for a device favorite among graphic designers.

As for the Mac Pro, Apple is updating it with the new AMD Fire Pro video cards.

Some tech analysts speculate that any Mac device that does not run with the onboard Intel graphics will feature the AMD and Polaris based graphics processor inside. Many market experts believe that this new deal with Apple will play a significant role in AMD's plan of once again dominating the market.

Apple is yet to release an official statement regarding its decision to drop Nvidia as its official graphics card provider. Moreover, there are indications that the AMD-Apple deal will not be good until 2017. While this is good news for AMD, it is not good news for Nvidia.
