Aside from Keith Stanfield, Margaret Qualley will also join the cast.

In 2006, Death Note was adapted into a Japanese film. Now, Adam Wingard will be writing and directing the English remake of Death Note.

Death Note follows the story of a young student, who finds a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill people by simply writing their names in it. A police officer tracks him down after he decides to purge the world of criminals.

From Warner Bros. to Netflix

In April, Warner Bros. announced that it had acquired the rights to remake an English version of Death Note. Shane Black was supposed to helm the film. However, he later backed out. Adam Wingard picked up the project. The script was penned by Jeremy Slater.

The English adaptation of Death Note seems to be going smoothly with Nat Wolff playing the film's protagonist and Margaret Qualley as his obsessive sidekick. However, Warner Bros. dropped the project and passed it on to Netflix.

Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka are producing the film. Meanwhile, Doug Davison and Brian Witten are the executive producers.
