Chinese Super League News: Beijing Guoan on a Five-Game Winning Stretch, Scores a Victory Over Shanghai Shenhua

The 2012 Chinese Football Association Young Player of the Year winner Zhang Xizhe helped the thriving Beijing Guoan get the better of the Shanghai Shenhua in a thrilling 2-1 home victory on Saturday. The match took place in the fourteenth round of the ongoing 2016 Chinese Super League (CSL) season.

The former Bundesliga club Vfl Wolfsburg footballer was able score the two goals for the Imperial Guard in a span of three minutes and hand the Beijing Guoan's the victoy. 

Zhang Xizhe, a native of Wuhan, Hubei, scored the first goal for the 2009 CSL champion side in the 66th minute of the match. The 25-year-old Chinese midfielder then netted the second goal of the game in 69th minute.

Senegalese striker Demba Ba of the Shanghai Shenhua made the game a thrilling one by nailing in a goal in the 83rd minute, but the visiting team still lost, as the Greenland Group-owned club failed to catch up with the Xie Feng-led squad.

Beijing Guoan currently sits in the eight spot of the 16-club Chinese league. They have garnered a total of 20 points in 14 matches played, with five victories, five draws and four defeats. The side has been on a five-game winning streak since the club dismissed Italian coach Zaccheroni last month.

In other matches, Changchun Yatai defeated Henan Jianye 1-0 to register their third win of the tournament. Bolivian forward Macelo Moreno of the Lee Jang-soo-led club netted a goal in the 74th minute of the game via a free-kick, handing Henan Jianye its second defeat in as many rounds.

Hangzhou Greentown finally got their first win in the last 12 rounds after edging Hebei China Fortune 1-0 onTan Yang's goal in the 26th minute of the game.
