"We are planning to have a plant in north India. We are also looking at acquisitions to expand our presence in India," he said at a launch function of company's 7.9 mm AIR TV in Chennai.

The AIR TV, dubbed the world's slimmest television, is available for Rs 169,990.

Zhang also revealed Skyworth will soon launch large home appliances in the Indian market. The company is currently selling televisions in India, and it has an assembly plant in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad.

Skyworth, which has more than 1,000 dealers across the country, is aiming to increase its market share in India's LED TV market from the current 3 percent to 10 percent in next two years. It is also working to produce TVs in the country under Indian Prime Minister's Made-in-India scheme. The company is talking to some Indian TV makers in this regard.

"Inspired by Narendra Modi's Made-in-India scheme, we are planning to produce and sell television sets in India. Currently, Skyworth TVs are brought to India under semi-knocked down condition and later assembled at Skyworth India's Hyderabad facility. The latest one, Air TV-55G 7200, series is fully imported," Skyworth India's Chris Lee said.
